Fan for a Match: Witches Run Wild
By: Bob | October 9th, 2006
It was a weekend of mixed success here at The Offside global world headquarters. I was greatly disappointed to see my adopted homeland Kazakhstan fall to Poland 1-0 at home in Euro 2008 qualifying. The Snow Leopards had their chances, but they let three crucial points slip away in front of 18,000 diehards in Almaty.
That loss was offset by another Fan for a Match victory. After six weeks without a win, we’ve notched wins the past two weeks. Uncle Momentum is on our side.
This week’s three points came courtesy of Brujas FC. As was expected, the Witches had their way with hapless Santacrucena in Costa Rica Primera League action. Brujas won 2-0 and moved into second place in the Group B table, right behind perennial power Saprissa. None of that really matters, of course, since I have a really short attention span and my Fan for the Match support is only good for one match before I move on to another team.
Which is where you can come into play. Nominations for this week’s Fan for a Match team are due by Thursday morning. All nominations will undergo a thorough review by our Fan for a Match selection committee. If your team is selected, you won’t win a prize and you won’t gain instant fame, but you will see your team highlighted on this very site. Send your nominations to bob [at] theoffside.com or leave them in the comments field.
