Fergie Faces Ban for Being Mean
By: Martha | November 27th, 2007
Let this be a lesson to you, kids: It’s not only rude to point, but it’s also potentially quite expensive, as well as limiting to your freedom of movement.
After angrily confronting (”It’s not fair! They’re kicking us! DON’T YOU KNOW WHO I AM, SON?!”) referee Mark Clattenburg at halftime of his team’s 1-0 loss to Bolton on the weekend, Sir Alex Ferguson was banished to the stand to watch the rest of the match. That, however, was not the end of it: Clattenburg included a note about SAF’s “finger-jabbing attack” in his match report, and the gaffer now faces both a fine and a touchline ban that could force him to miss United’s match with Liverpool later this month.
In his scandalous report, Clattenberg alleged that Ferguson not only swore at him, but also — earmuffs, kids, this is going to be tough — used other “abusive and insulting words.” *gasp* In other words, “He was mean to me, that bastard!” Of course, Sir Alex isn’t exactly helping his case with his (totally unsurprising) refusal to admit any wrongdoing in the matter, so a ban and fine are likely to be handed down. As far as the Scot is concerned, the officials sucked, and Clattenberg reacted the way he did because “Some referees don’t like it. They don’t like the truth.” Got that? And Man U would never, ever lose without it being someone else’s fault.
(There’s also a little bit in the article about SAF’s attention being “diverted” in today’s Sporting match by a certain “pony-tailed midfielder.” You know, if you’re into that sort of thing.)
ETA: Looks like Clattenberg’s been a busy little reporting bee lately — David Moyes, too, is in trouble for not treating him properly. Hmm. Could perhaps someone other than the managers be the problem here?

damn right Martha, they would never lose without it being some one elses fault!
And now, that does seem interesting that he’s reported more than one gaffer, so, they might not be the problem.GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED!

Bolton really sucks, but you have to admit that Nicolas Anelka is a beast (even though his goal was ugly). Man United should definitely have won.
