Fernando Torres Viral Mystery?

You’ve probably seen these odd Fernando Torres commercials by now. There’s the one above for a hair salon, and this one below for a dog training school:

How about those production values? There’s an actual star wipe in the hair salon commercial.

So one of two thing is going on here. It’s possible that Torres is doing a hair salon and a dog school a big favour and starring in their shoddy commercials. Which would make him the nicest man ever.

But I’m with The Spoiler on this one, and suspect that this is all part of a clever Nike viral ad campaign.

The salon commercial features no swoosh, but was probable designed just to attract a bit of attention to the fact that Torres was in this slightly odd commercial (with, as I mentioned, a star wipe).

But in the second commercial, both Torres and the dog trainer are wearing some pretty prominent swoosh gear, which is possibly a massive clue as to what this is all about.

If this is the case, then hats off to a smart marketing campaign. It’s about time viral marketing unjumped the shark that was Kaka juggling two balls.
