Festival of the Babes: Beer, Lesbians, Stripping, Soccer

With so many soccer tournaments and games taking place throughout the year how can an upstart competition compete for your attention? The organizers of the Festival of the Babes tournament might have figured out a way how.

From the people doing God’s work at the Canada.com:

It may be one of the best-kept secrets in women’s sports: an international all-girls game in which the players drink beer on the pitch, do body shots between halves, and kiss the referee after each game. Once a team is ahead by five points, every subsequent goal requires the leading players to doff an article of clothing, sometimes leaving the field resembling a women’s steam room – only with more sweat and athletic cleats on every pair of feet.

Now in its 17th year, Festival of the Babes is a global gathering of “soccer-playing lesbians and women willing to be mistaken for lesbians.”

Ok, go take a cold shower.

This year’s Festival of the Babes tournament will be held on August 31-September 2nd in Portland, Oregon. God I wish I could be there. Oh wait, I can. The field is within spitting distance of The Offside’s global world headquarters, which means that you can expect over the top, Beckham-like coverage of the event throughout the month of August. It is a tough job, but someone has to do it. No word yet whether these teams will participate.

  May not want to, Brian. Did you look at the pictures from the tournament? Whatever the doctor finds up there might look better than what they seem to be putting on the pitch at the Festival of the “Babes”. No offense to your upper GI tract, of course.
