Franz Beckenbauer Continues to be Everywhere

By: Bob | August 23rd, 2006

becenbauermets.jpgWe’re not sure if the guy in the blue shirt next to Bill Clinton at last night’s New York Mets baseball game is really Franz Beckenbauer, but considering how he kept popping up everywhere during the World Cup it really wouldn’t surprise us if that is him.

Beckenbauer’s name has resurfaced today with news that he is set to run for a position with the criminals at FIFA. We hate to see a good man hang out with such seedy characters.

Even if you are suffering from Beckenbauer fatigue, and we won’t fault you if you are, you should check out the new documentary about the New York Cosmos, Once in a Lifetime. It offers an unique insider view of a time when Beckenbauer, Pele and other legends helped to make soccer king in the United States.
