Free Kick Masters

That’s Ukraine midfielder Oleksandr Aliyev nailing about as nice a free kick as your eyes will ever see. This effort alone merits an invite to the Free Kick Masters competition. Yes, taking a page from other sports, there is going to be a pay-per-view skills competition to determine the best free kick specialist in the world. Or at least the best one who is willing to show up in Houston, Texas on December 22 for an appearance fee.

This has the possibility of being a hokey event, but given the names that are taking part it also could be cool. Suspend reality for a second and pretend that this event really could determine the best free kick taker in the world. Who else should be added to the invite list below and who do you think would come out on top?

i think Rivaldo and juninho , should definitely be on that, Rivaldo has a sweet left foot and Juninho strikes have less rotation and high air speed making the movement of the ball unpredictable and plus he as a cannon from like 45 meters out, he my fav. free kick taker and as good as David Beckham,Roberto Carlos,and Ronaldinho, if not better, he is the most percise then all of them combined!

Rogerio Ceni for sure. I just saw him scoring another free kick goal. Either he is very very good or goalkeepers in Brazil are intimidated to let the ball in.

Yeah, Lucas I was that dude. OK, just kidding, my free kicks can't compare to Ronaldinho's, I can barely compare them to the five-year-old next door. Anyway, did anyone see the free kick taken by a Sevilla player this past season? Not sure who the player was, but he took the free kick from almost next to where the reserves sit and scored. It was a heck of a free kick.
