From Russia with Talent

By: Daryl | September 8th, 2007

The Russian league maybe doesn’t get the attention it deserves, but there’s some real talent in there. Andrei Arshavin plays for wealthy FC Zenit St. Petersburg in the Russian Premier League (or the blue-white-light-blues as they’re apparently called) and was Russian Footballer of the Year in 2006. He can be seen above shimmying past several Macedonian defenders before scoring for Russia in their 3-0 win today.

Poor goalkeeping to boot. Still, it takes a keen eye to identify such at pace.

    "shimmying past several Macedonian defenders"

They looked more like Macedonian cones to me. Not the stoutest defense on that play.
