George Best’s Ghost Haunts the Liquor Cabinet
By: Bob | December 4th, 2006
When he was alive, Northern Ireland and Manchester United great George Best was prone to making news both on and off the pitch. Best, who passed away last year, apparently is still the rabble rouser in the afterlife. Three of his former lovers are claiming that a spirit that they believe to be Best has appeared in their homes. If that wasn’t odd enough, his former agent and friend blames Best’s ghost on moving the bottles in his liquor cabinet.
Said Phil Hughes:
“When George stayed at my house he’d never touch any booze from my drinks cabinet. All my bottles of brandy, scotch and Bacardi were on a triangular shelf, which sits rock-solid on pegs in a corner cupboard in the front room. But recently I found the shelf had somehow gone underneath the pegs and flipped. But not one bottle had fallen over. They were all standing up in a perfect line. It really spooked me,” said Phil.
“I did believe I’d see George again one day. But not in this world,” he added.
The most unbelievable thing about that statement is the part about Best never touching the booze when he was alive.
I’m not sure if Best’s ghost is to blame for the run on currency in Northern Ireland, but if he is haunting this planet you’d think the least he would do would protect his son from those dangerous celebrities.
