Golden Foot Nominees for 2010: Which Player Should Leave Their Mark?

By: Daryl | May 25th, 2010

golden footThe Golden Foot award is a bit different. It’s not about who was the best player in the last twelve months. It’s exclusively for players over the age of 29, and is awarded based on a whole career. Not just the one season.

Ronaldinho won in 2009, and was invited to leave his footprint on the Champions Promenade in Monte Carlo. The 10 players with a chance to join Ronaldinho(’s feet) this year are as follows:

David Beckham, Gigi Buffon, Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto’o, Steven Gerrard, Ryan Giggs, Carles Puyol, Raul, Clarence Seedorf, Francesco Totti.

It’s very tough to judge a whole career. Do you place more weight on medals? Goals? Loyalty? Big hair? Humanitarian contributions? Tattoos? Most of those 10 players are impossible to compare objectively and decide who’s best.

But that’s what the Golden Boot people are asking us to do. With the only question being “Who is the greatest? you can vote for the 2010 winner here, based on pretty much whatever criteria you want to. The 2010 winner will be leaving their mark on October 11th.

eto'o has won 2 triples back to back
  • Jamesinho
I'd vote Giggs, Seedorf, or Buffon, but Buffon should do his hands.
