Great Goalkeeper Blunders

By: Bob | October 12th, 2006

I almost feel sorry for England keeper Paul Robinson. He actually played a pretty good game during yesterday’s loss to Croatia in Euro 2008 qualifying, but all of that is overshadowed by his one terrible bobble. At least Robinson can take solace in knowing that he isn’t the first keeper to screw the pooch. The video above offers six minutes of painful goalkeeping and includes blunders from some of the best in the game today. The last one might just be the best one.

    Magnificent.

And you’re right, there are several legendary ‘keepers in that video.

poor Robinson. he hgad some great saves in the first half. some of the blame has to go to Neville. a defender should know better than to back pass the ball right into the box.

Those were hilarious. I think my favorites were when the keepers threw the ball into their own goals. Classic! Makes me not feel so bad when I screw up as keeper… hehe

Kasey Keller’s blunder against Mexico was missing.

The ball apparently got caught in a divet and suddenly bounced, which he wasn’t prepared for. Too bad this is what he’ll be most remembered for. But that’s what the football world does all the time: forget a player’s accomplishments completely and remember him only for one moment of failure.
