Greece Fans and Teams Brawl on the Pitch
By: Bob | April 16th, 2007It was a dubious return to action this weekend in Greece with a third division match between Panetolikos and Illioupolis interrupted for half and hour while fans and players clashed on the pitch. Two players and a coach were sent to the hospital, but somehow the game was restarted and ended in a 2-2 draw. The incident in the video above comes after all sports in Greece were suspended for two weeks after a fan was killed on March 29 in clashes between supporters of Olympiakos and Panathinaikos outside a women’s volleyball match.
