Growing Up Thierry Henry (Reebok Ad)

This is kind of a cool ad/video from Reebok, in the up-close-and-personal mold of last year’s “Impossible Is Nothing” Adidas ad campaign. The subject is Barcelona and France striker Thierry Henry, and on what it was like for him growing up in a rough banlieue outside of Paris. (Listen closely. The accent is difficult to understand, but worth it.)

Henry has a reputation for being a bit hard-headed and egotistical. This kind of ad is a reminder that there tends to be more to most stories than we can see from the outside.

  Great ad … has nothing to do with his boots … but great ad. It’s interesting to me that he chooses van Basten as the one role model he mentions in that part of the commercial. So THAT’S who he wanted to be when he grew up.
