Guti leads Real fightback

Guti yellingWith leaders Barcelona winning 2-0 at Real Sociedad yesterday, the clash between second place Sevilla and third place Real Madrid meant that one of them had to win to keep pace with Barca and be taken seriously as title challengers.

There are still rumours in Madrid that Fabio Capello will be looking for work this summer after Jose Mourinho comes along to replace him, but the Italian’s inspired substitution kept Real in the title race today.

Madrid were trailing 1-0 after 60 minutes, Capello withdrew Madrid legend and original Galactico Raul and bought on the less celebrated but maybe more useful Guti. Guti lead the fightback and got three assists in 24 minutes, setting up Ruud van Nistelrooy twice and Robinho once. A late Sevilla consolation goal meant the game finished 3-2 to Real, who are now just two points behind Barca with five games to go. Bring on the rest of the season.
