Happy 10th Birthday Google!

It’s (arguably) Google’s 10th birthday today. Obviously a lot of readers find The Offside via Google, and most of the search terms that land people here are obvious and enough. Things like team names and player names.

But not all of them.

Here’s a selection of some of the more interesting search terms that have bought people to the The Offside in recent times.

Because people like to see other people naked:

Gets you exactly what you were looking for.

Won’t get you exactly what you were looking for, but you can still pretty much see it here and this will point you in the right direction (even though it’s almost definitely fake).

You were probably looking for snaps of Marco Boriello’s hottie hot girlfriend right? And you’ll find them right here in a story about Boriello catching an STD. The internet is not a nice place.

We have no idea…

Is one way to find a post about Rangers 3-0 Champions League defeat to Lyon. But if that’s what you were looking for then you might need some help with the Googling.

Means you stutter when you type. But it will help you find any one of our many many Karim Benzema posts.

Because you want to believe:

You’re either a very optimistic ASSE fan, or a genuine April Fool.

Because you want to know if we’ve paid our taxes, apparently:

You think we’re hiding something? Or do you want to know about Diego Maradona and Italian clubs owing back taxes? We hope it’s one of the latter two.

Because sometimes we spell things wrong, and then so do you:

Gets you to this page about a footballer named Alfonso Alves. Who may or may not be related to Middlesbrough striker Afonso Alves.

  I am still quite troubled at how many people find their way to the Galaxy blog through a search for a year-old picture of Posh in a see-through top. For some reason I am less disturbed by all the people who reach my France page by googling “Thierry Henry Shirtless.”

  Oh, and also? You made me curious, so I just went into Analytics to check some of the site’s other google searches. Did you notice that 57 people found their way to World Cup Blog by googling “Wayne Rooney Naked”?
