He doesn’t know the alphabet, but his left foot is amazing

By: Bob | April 16th, 2007

charlie-edwards.jpgLoyal readers of this here little ol’ blog know that we are quite fond of searching around for the next great thing. We generally look for young players that you might not know about that are attracting attention from big clubs. Sometimes these players even go on to become household names. We do have our standards, however, and that includes never hyping a player until he is at least able to count to ten.

We’ll leave it to others, namely the Manchester Evening News, to pen the story of a 3-year-old football star named Charlie Edwards who will undoubtedly lead England to glory in the 2026 World Cup. We’ll leave it to them to publish this quote from the lad’s father:

“He has only just turned three,” he said.

“I think he must be one of the best naturally-gifted left-footed footballers in the country. Everywhere he plays people cannot believe their eyes.”

We also won’t mention that there is a football academy for kids 3-12 that helps professional teams in England scout out talent and that it seems incredibly sick for a three-year-old to be scouted.

We won’t mention any of that, but we will post the YouTube of little Charlie Edwards in action, but we’ll feel awfully guilty about doing this.

Wayne Rooney has shown that you don’t need to know the alphabet to be successful in life.

Yikes - I felt bad enough about Freddy Adu being scouted at ten … but three? Funny video, though.

Hope there’s a joke involved in this somewhere.

The kid sure is adorable, though.
