Head Butt Rock

By: Bob | August 1st, 2006

zid.jpgFrance’s World Cup loss is your Ipod’s gain. In the wake of Zinedine Zidane’s head butt meltdown in the World Cup final, a music group in France has penned a song that has hit the top of the charts.

Coup de Boule (Head Butt) – yes, French is the language of romance – is a reggae beat song that celebrates that glorious moment when Zidane used his balding head as a battering ram.

“Zidane a frappé, la Coupe on l’a ratée” (Zidane struck, we blew the cup) the song goes.

The music companies aren’t the only ones trying to cash in on Zidane’s infamy. A cash-strapped club in Chile is hoping it can convince the French legend to play a few minutes in an exhibition match to help improve its financial position.

And then there is Adidas, which has faithfully stuck by their man. They’ve even created a new website to honor Zizou.

Apparently Danone yogurt is trying to get Zidane on their board of directors.

The song is a huge hit in France, it’s the #1 seller. Shows you the French do have a sense of humor.

What a laugh, I love this song… By the way, it’s zouk, not reggae.
