Help Wanted: Cock Blocker

It isn’t easy being a Fighting Cock these days. The amateur team from Gosport in England is desperately searching for a goalkeeper now that they have lost 13 keepers in the past year to injuries and disagreements with the club. The two crazy souls who both agreed to stand in net for the team this season both were injured last week in a pre-season friendly.

“It is unlucky. It certainly felt like that at the time,” said Steve Skelhorn, the team’s treasurer. “I have been playing football since I was 15, I’m 45 now, I can never remember anything as weird as this. We will have to see how this season goes. It hasn’t got off to a good start. It’s just one thing after another.”

We’re not sure what kind of training regime the Fighting Cocks put their keepers through, but it might be helpful if they cut back on the number of days a week they use the cannon to fire shots on goal in practice.
