His Leg Amputated, Former Footballer Dario Silva is Aiming for the Olympics
By: Bob | November 22nd, 2006
A couple of months ago the Uruguayan striker Dario Silva’s football career came to an end following a horrific car crash that led to the partial amputation of his leg. Silva isn’t letting this setback prevent him from competing athletically. He has set his sights on taking part in the 2012 Olympics in London as a rower.
“I have a lot of free time to dedicate to rowing with a view to going to the Olympics, something I have never done as a sportsman,” he told Brazilian TV station O Globo.
“I don’t know if I can win, but at least I will compete.”
If Silva does achieve this goal, I imagine I won’t be the only one cheering him on with each stroke of the paddle.
