I Play For Which Team Again?

By: chris | March 11th, 2009

This is Andres Carevic of Atlante. He has a wicked header, as you can see. Perfect form as he rises almost above the ball to bang it sharply into the back of the net.

The only problem for Andres is that was his team’s net receiving his exquisite and the player he rose just happened to be his teammate.

While own goals can be forgiven, this one can’t. It was executed all too perfectly. Which is precisely why his coach removed him from the field almost immediately and Atlante went on to score 3 goals for the win.

This reminds me of a goal that Iain Dowie scored. Brilliant own goal, any goalkeeper would have struggled to keep out such a powerful header.

You almost expected him to celebrate afterwards:

Search iain dowie own goal on youtube.
