I Wish This Guy Coached MY Kids

What makes a good soccer coach?
What do you think? Integrity? Decency? Honesty? Positive role modeling? Getting arrested for choking and punching players from the opposing team?
A coach from San Ysidro High in California qualifies on at least one count.
A high school soccer coach was arrested after allegedly choking and punching two 17-year-old players from an opposing team during a huge on-field brawl, authorities said.
Eduardo Jimenez Arenas, 39, a contract coach for San Ysidro High, was jailed on three counts of felony battery after the fight Saturday on the Otay Ranch High soccer field, Chula Vista police Lt. Scott Arsenault said. The fight began after an Otay Ranch player fouled a San Ysidro player and was flagged for a penalty, Arsenault said. Witnesses told police Arenas put his hands around the Otay Ranch player’s neck and choked him. Other people intervened, including another Otay Ranch player, whom Arenas allegedly punched in the face, knocking him down.
About 200 spectators, players and coaches then stormed onto the field. It took more than a dozen police officers to bring the crowd under control.
The player who had been knocked down was kicked in the face by an unidentified man who escaped, Arsenault said. The youth was hospitalized.
I am so sad that my kids have had coaches who teach boring things like…like…fair play. And sportsmanship. I think I need to protest.
Because if they’re not learning the smackdown stuff, they’re not learning the game.
