I Zlatan, You Zlatan…We All Zlatan.
By: The Offside | December 28th, 2012
What do you get a massive egomaniac for Christmas? Well his own dictionary entry, of course. Which is surely going down splendidly with Zlatan’s family during the holiday break. (Actually, rumors persist his public persona is very much that – merely a persona – and that he’s actually rather a nice guy behind it all. Your choice to believe it or not.)
The photo above is reportedly his celebration upon hearing the news.
To the dictionary we go. Or he goes.
The Swedish Language Council has included the verb “zlatanera” – meaning “to dominate” – in its list of new words from 2012, it said on its website.
The verb “to zlatan” was originally coined by a satirical TV show in France, where Ibrahimovic plays for Paris Saint Germain. The word has been in common use in Swedish ever since.
So this begs the question…
Do you Zlatan?
Cristiano Ronaldo should be next, but he probably wouldn’t appreciate the definition.
