I’m on Setanta Sports: Is it really over?

By: Ian Rose | May 11th, 2008

The English football season is one thing, but the first season of my favorite ever sports puppet show has to end on the same day? On our last dose for a while of puppet Mourinho, the Special One sings a very special song for a very special Man City manager, who had, by all accounts, a very very bad day.

I’m on Setanta Sports has made each weekend even better.

I hope they bring this back next season with Jose, Sven, Wayne and maybe a couple of others.

The phone ins have been great, and the catchphases.

We should petition that this be kept on Setanta Sports

Absoutely brilliant. I’m going to miss this so, so much over the summer, no joke. Setanta would be completely bonkers to not keep this next year. Jose, Sven, Wayne…thanks for the laughs ;)

This has been a horrid day otherwise….Milan loses miserably, I had to walk to work in completely horrid weather. I come home, and I have this waiting. Lovely. Sven’s side comments during Jose’s song were hilarious! “And if you leave City..(Sven: Which is likely), you’ve got a friend in me”

Can someone explain to me why puppet Jose has a Russian accent?

Ohhhhh… It’s so wonderful to see poor, abused Sven getting some love. The wine and the firelight… Awww… Even if it was a dream.

He HAS to be back next season.

Confused, have you ever listened to Portuguese? Amazingly Russian-sounding.

Hana - glad it saved your day a little.

I love this show so damned much, and considering the great response it’s had this season, I can’t imagine Setanta wouldn’t do it again. It might depend on whether the guy that does all the voices has other projects he wants to work on - he does a lot of things, and this might get old for him at some point. Not for us, though.

Sven’s “well”s are maybe my favorite thing ever.

    “In breaking news…I am fantastic!”

I love the program and I hope it continues, but I never figured out, who is “Dave from Newcastle/Stoke”?
