Is Madrid’s name on the Spanish title?
By: Daryl | May 12th, 2007After masterminding last week’s comeback against Real Sociedad, Fabio Capello did it again today. Madrid trailed Espanyol 3-1 at halftime, after Walter Pandiani had destroyed them with a 19 minute hat-trick, but Capello’s men came back and won an incredible game 4-3 at the Bernabeau.
Get a look at young Argentine Gonzalo Higuain’s 89th minute winner. He slide tackles to get the ball, then plays a sweet one two before finishing past Kameni in the Espanyol goal. Remember when Madrid was all lazy Galacticos standing around posing? Not anymore. And with all these dramatic comebacks it feels like Madrid are destined to end 2006/7 as Spanish champions, maybe.
Madrid are top of La Liga by one point, at least until Barcelona play Real Betis tomorrow. But you’ve got to worry about Barcelona’s title challenge, especially if their disastrous 4-0 surrender at Getafe in the Copa del Rey this week is any guide to their form.

A fantastic comeback, and only Higuain’s second goal of the season. That young, to come on that big under such pressure–he’s going to be good.
BTW, last week’s comeback was against Sevilla, a bit more impressive than Real Sociedad. :p
