It Turns Out Red Star Belgrade isn’t going Bankrupt
By: Bob | February 7th, 2007The rivalry between Belgrade’s two biggest teams, Partizan and Red Star, is among the fiercest in the world. In recent years the “eternal derby” has been plagued by fan violence, poor play and low attendance. As we saw recently during a basketball game between the two clubs, however, the intensity still exists. Now it has entered the cyber world.
Last week a computer hacker who one can only imagine is a Partizan fan decided to post some creative news stories to Red Star’s official Web site. Among the stories, was one with the headline: “Red Star to go bankrupt.” The article said:
“The directors will take all the money, Marakana Stadium will be sold to Partizan and Zdravko Colic will be the interim receiver”, continued the hacker, “naming” the super popular singer, a sort of the Yugoslav Cliff Richard, as the provisional liquidator.
It took a day for the Red Star site to return to normal, which sure beats the amount of time it has taken us to defeat the massive amounts of spam that made us turn off the comments on World Cup Blog. I’ve been told that a solution has been found and that it will be implemented on all the blogs in the coming days.
Come on hackers and spammers, give us your best shot.
Just kidding. Leave is the hell alone. Thank you.
