Italian Gigolo Outs Serie A Players
By: chris | December 5th, 2008
(Post best served with this soundtrack – and it even has a footy reference.)
Another day, another potential scandal in Italy. Luckily this one’s a whole hell of a lot juicier than Calciopoli, and one which has been teed up right into the wheelhouse of the Italian papparazzi.
An unnamed Serie C footballer has come out and said that, with Lega Calcio not exaclty offering up top tier wages, he’s been moonlighting as a manwhore (an expensive one at that….I think). Kicker is he’s manwhoring for other players, including some in Serie A and even a few on the Azzurri. Cue pandemonium.
It should be said these are claims which have, as of yet, no confirmed truths. Truths which could probably destroy the lives of some involved were they to ever get out.
From the horse’s mouth:
“It’s €1,500 Euros for a few hours,” revealed the footballer, who also plays professionally in Serie C.“The players pay without any problem. I often meet them at a hotel, on Sunday evening after the game, in the only moment of tranquility that they have.
“They ask to relax and have no problem with being kissed on their mouth. However, they are afraid, actually terrorized by the idea of being discovered.
“With one of them I met in the dark, outside Milan – I don’t know who he was. The deal was that everything had to be done with the lights off.”
His girlfriend does not know anything about his double life and that is why he wants to keep his identity hidden.
“I sell my performances to players from important teams,” he continued. “I have around 30 footballers as clients and a dozen of them are from Serie A.
“There are some, but not many, who are part of the national team and are even married. On three occasions they asked to make love in a group with more players of the same team, but also with friends from opposing squads.
“Many of them are bisexual. In Italy, no player will admit that he’s gay, at least not now. There are too many social conditions – maybe that’s fair.”
The part about the extra special post-game opposing team handshakes was unnecessary, but I think you get the point: apparently there’s another post-game spread, this one invite only. This isn’t your run of the mill “oops, I slipped in the shower…and again” type tomfoolery.
No names, but everyone’s going to speculate. Especially for the Azzurri lads, who surely are the most well-known of the lot. Not us. (coughcassanocough)
If you are said random Serie C player, might your friends at The Offside (not that good, it should be said) make a strong recommendation? Find a good witness protection program. Can’t say I’d bat an eye if I hear the body of a pretty boy Lega Calcio player was found floating in a river in the near future.

God that movie’s a crime to the universe. We hear “gigolo” and our minds automatically think “Deuce Bigalow”.

Exactly. I’m trying to remove the memory of it with a do-it-yourself lobotomy right now…I think it’s worskirsing!

Apparently he’s going on TV (channel La7) tonight and actually giving names.

Doesn’t it stand to reason that, with a certain percentage of the male population of the world being homosexual, that a similar percentage of footballists are also homosexual? Its only scandalous because of the pathetic homophobia still ingrained in male culture.

What Rob said.
And not only that, this is going to have an extremely deleterious effect on goal celebrations, and that sucks.

And also, if he’s been getting €1,500 for a few hours’ work, the TV station must have offered him a bundle, because there’s no way any of his regular clientele are going to trust him again.

Ha! You could be right, Laurie. The polite handshake celebration just won’t have the same exuberance to it.

Agreed, Rob. I think it’s shameful that anyone, footballer or not, has to live a lie.
And while I know that if you like sex a certain way and have to hide it in your daily existence, paying for sex might seem to be the only option, I also think it’s extremely foolish. If you’re paying someone for sex, they’re probably not going to be the most discrete person around. Especially when there’s money on the table. (See: Ronaldo and the transsexual hookers. Or the other Ronaldo and pretty much every hooker ever.)

What bothers me about this whole thing (outside of prostitution, I think it’s a terrible trade, I don’t care about the whole “The money’s good” excuse), is why this man feels the need to destroy the lives of the people involved. It only goes to show that this man is the worst type of scum around. There is absolutely no reason (outside of his own financial gain) for him to do the harm that he is going to inflict on lots of families. And I have no problem with peoples sexuality. It’s no different than a person born being a right-handed person or left.

Hey, at least Materazzi has no problems with gays right?

Some good comments above. The only scandal in this is that people have to hide who they are, how they feel, because they play football. Rob said it well, it only makes sense that there are homosexuals in professional footy. It’s time for the fans and society to accept that fact.

As long as he doesn’t go through with actually spilling the names then I think there’s nothing terrible about what he’s doing, trying to get people to understand how things really are. Part of me wants to hope it would change some attitudes.
