moved to Holland when 12, so is he still Canadian?
Also, saw he and his bro at a club last summer in TO, it would be stretch to say were 5′7″

France NT fan must point out here that all France players who were born elsewhere grew up in France. It’s not like Domenech is enterprising enough to go scout Africa.

That’s just the nature of the beast. How about the French National team? They’ve had plenty of players born in other countries… And it’s not like Canada is hurting in the players-born-in-other-coutries department either.

Current players Klukowski (Austria), Gerba (Cameroon), Hume (Scotland) and in the past, Bunbury (Guyana), Hooper (Guyana) and Radzinski (Poland).

I’d love to see the best possible Canadian squad out there and be able to compete in CONCACAF, but until we’re doing well enough to make it to World Cups consistently, it’s going to be hard to hang onto anyone with dual citizenship….

I’m not Canadian and have no direct links to the country, but I was disappointed when Jonathan de Guzman decided to play for the Netherlands. How are they meant to improve on the international stage when players who could make a real difference to their fortunes pick and choose their country of ‘origin’?
Imagine a Canadian midfield comprising of Hargreaves, De Rosario, Julio and Jonathan?

He does now Thomas, but in the build up to World Cup 2006 he tried extremely hard to get a Dutch passport so he could play for the Netherlands instead.

If I remember correctly, the Dutch immigration officials rejected the request to have naturalization rushed though and the whole thing fell apart.
