Jose & Friends Prove It’s All About The Children

By: chris | April 23rd, 2008

Admit it, when Jose said “I’m Jose Mourinho and I’m….” you thought he was going to say “I’m fantastic”, didn’t you? How Adidas missed this opportunity we’ll never know. They got a big fat softball lob and they whiffed.

In the advert we saw a few times during the Chelski-Pool telecast yesterday Adidas took some of the biggest names in the sport and brought them to the smallest nations to kick it around with the children. A great commercial, but I’d keep an eye on the kids who were hanging around with Patrick Vieira. One said “it makes me want to be like him sometimes”, then his buddy pipes in with “all the time”. Do we need kids striving for beaucoup red cards? Somebody get Ricky “I Belong To Jesus” Kaka to straighten them out ASAP.

I absolutely cannot hear Mourinho without hearing the puppet character.

Maybe they meant they want to be tall and from Senegal and frequently injured?

Wait. Did I just say that? I LOVE Patrick Vieira.

I was waiting for “It” to chime in at some point during that…I’m not used to hearing Jose talk that long without a Sven Tom Jones break.

Seriously though, I can’t help but have a bit of a cold side for Jose being a Liverpool fan, but this made me like him a little bit more. Good on ya, Jose.
