Jozy Altidore is a Twitter Tease
By: Daryl | August 6th, 2009
Football clubs might be tight-lipped about their transfer dealings (or just plain lying, in Benfica’s case) but the players themselves aren’t so keen to keep things secret.
Recently there was the Darren Bent broo-ha, with the then Spurs striker rather impatiently using Twitter to demand that Daniel Levy “stop f****** around” and sell him to Sunderland already. A move that bizarelly got him exactly what he wanted (although his Twitter account was sadly put to death).
Young US and Villarreal striker Jozy Altidore was a little more coy, using his Twitter account to do a slow reveal of his loan move to Hull.
Altidore began the tease on August 2nd with “Up early today going on a lil trip”, but refused to reveal any more info than that. He later revealed the destination to be England, before finally telling the world “First match is against chelsea subject to a work permit *wink* *wink* lol thanks for the support and love keep it coming.” A quick look at the Premier League fixture lists shows Chelsea’s first opponents to be Hull City.
Here’s JozyAltidore17’s recent updates, from August 2nd til right now:

I’m not the biggest Twitter fan, but kind of like how it was used here, with Altidore fans and followers getting a sneak peak of what’s going on before it hit mainstream media.
As for the loan to Hull, it’s now official. Smart move for all involved in my opinion. Villarreal didn’t want Altidore getting moldy on the Madrigal bench, Hull needed a goalscorer, and Altidore needed some first team football in a big league.

Makes perfect sense. Altidore is pretty good, and Hull is trying to create a huge presence here in the U.S.

What if he had also included a *nudge* *nudge* and a “Say no more?”
