Juventus’ Serie B Vacation is Over

Even after they were relegated in disgrace and even after they were docked nine points, there was never really any doubt that Juventus’ stay in Serie B would last more than one season. The Old Lady has too much money and kept too many of its star players to ever face a series Serie B threat. Juve have lost just two of their matches this season, have outscored their opponents 79-26, and after winning on Saturday they booked their place in Serie A next season.

What is a bit surprising is the reaction of the team’s keeper and coach. You’d think that after sticking with the club while it had to play the likes of Spezia and Forinone, World Cup winning goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon would be Juventus for life.

“Most importantly, I want to be serene and free, that is why I don’t consider playing in the Champions League a requirement.

“I will soon meet the management, and after a while, I will make my final decision. It will not be a brief thing and I want to assure the fans that nothing is official yet.

“I would not refuse joining a club abroad and no, I am not looking for a house near Milan.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement from a keeper that you know will be in great demand if he does decide to divorce the Old Lady.

His manager Didier Deschamps is also facing a possible exit. Somehow I don’t think he will end up coaching a Serie B team next season.

Meanwhile, the official Sofia Loren striptease watch shows that both Genoa and Napoli earned a point this weekend so her club remains two points back of automatic promotion.

  • I'm staring at an article from a couple months ago in World Soccer with the head line "Spend Or I Go, Warns Del Piero." I think both stay at Juve because the club really has no other choice but to spend massive amounts of cash.

From what James Richardson said on the Football Weekly podcast, Buffon's waiting to see who Juve sign and figure out how competitive they'll be next season. Certainly within his rights given his loyalty so far.
