Yes, and in 2000 it is fair to say that Calais (4th division) were robbed! (Nantes scored 90th minute goal that should have been ruled out).

In 2000, in the Coupe de la Ligue, 2nd division Gueugnon (who used to be a regular giant-killing team, alongside Guingamp) beat PSG fair and square (2-0). Distin played for Gueugnon.

Last time a lower league (Ligue 2) side won the Coupe de France was in 1959... Le Havre beat Sochaux. In the replay. 3-0.

But lower league teams are fairly regular finalists... The last three times were 2004 (Chateauroux, Ligue 2, losing to PSG), 2001 (Amiens, Ligue 2, losing to Strasbourg on penalties), and 2000 when Calais, an Amateur side (4th division) lost 1-2 to Nantes in the final...

So Carquefou could write history... But only if the win!

For entertainment value, I hope that two finalists are Lyon and Marseille (or PSG). But for sheer romance, how cool would it be if a lower division side won? That hasn't happened in France in like forever! Though a third division side made it to the finals a few years back.

Also, I think Benzema needs his own blog on the offside. Sharing space with Lyon is no longer working out.
