Kevin Harmse is a Bad, Bad Boy
By: Laurie | November 29th, 2007First, a confession: I am an LA Galaxy fan.
And I am a Kevin Harmse fan. He’s tough. He’s scrappy. And I generally enjoy watching tough and scrappy. If something’s going down on the field, Kevin’s usually in the middle of it. And usually I’m okay with that.
But this play left me open-mouthed and slack-jawed.
Geez, Kevin! What’d he do? Offer to swap shirts with your sister, the son of a terrorist whore? Don’t you know that you can’t DO these things in the YouTube age??!!
From Australia’s Daily Telegraph:
The Canadian international drew a fiery reaction from Sydney skipper Tony Popovic during the match.
“We Australians, we always play hard but we don’t play dirty so there were a few things I wasn’t too pleased with out there,” Popovic said. “Some things happened that you wouldn’t expect to see in a friendly. It was wrong so we pretty much let him know.”…
Galaxy coach Ruud Gullit returned serve at Sydney FC’s Brendon Santalab, claiming his over-zealous challenge on Beckham left the 80,000-crowd collectively holding its breath, as lighting the fuse for an explosive night.
“The guy who kicked David Beckham, he triggered it,” Gullit said. “He did it not only once, but twice. David warned him and said it’s a friendly.”
What do you guys think about this one?

I was at that game, sitting right in front of where that happened. I’ll be the first to admit that Biddle could and maybe should have gotten a red for his pushing but what your guy did was disgusting. First he took the poor kid down, shoved him and then stepped on him. It was absolutely pathetic.
(And for the record i’m not a Sydney fan, at all. Ever.)

Harmse showed himself to be an idiot and Ruud showed himself to be a good coach by backing his guys. I’m sure that behind closed doors Ruud’s speech would be different, but he did the right thing by deflecting the criticism.

red card for that push? uh no… my sister can push harder than that.
but yeah they should let the aussie kick harmse in the nuts after the game and put it on the big screen.Posted from

The Galaxy should get rid of him, and do it promptly. I like his play. But there should be no place on the team for someone capable of that sort of malicious behavior. Martino also frequently commits fouls that are too agressive, but they always seem to me to show a lack of defensive competence rather than the nastiness that Harmse displayed the other night (and on other occasions).

Laurie, remember this is after the excessive “knock” to Juninho that’s taking him out of Sydney’s league play for another week. Can’t have a defender that’s either too bad to avoid that kind of thing in a friendly or malicious enough to do it on purpose.

Yeah, I’m having a hard time seeing them able to keep him after something like this. The maliciousness of it amazes me.

Poor kid. He even increased his pressure on the kid’s hand. That’s just wrong.
