Kim Jong-il Hates Long Haired Footballers

By: Daryl | October 21st, 2008

As Laurie recently reported, North Korean leader/Team America star Kim Jong-il is not dead. He’s very much alive and spending his time watching football. Which is exactly what I’d do if I ever became a dictator.

Unfortunately, Kim Jong-il didn’t enjoy the Kim Il-sung University vs Pyongyang University game he took in, mostly because of the players’ long hair. So now North Korea has a nationwide ban on long hair for men.

From the Mainichi Daily News (via Gheorghe: The Blog):

According to an insider, after realizing that several of the Kim Il-sung University players were sporting long hair, Kim declared it to “look disgusting,” and said “I can’t tell if this is men’s soccer or women’s soccer.”

His mood grew steadily worse until the end of the first half, at which point he announced he would not be watching the rest of the match. Whether he was actually watching from the stadium or on television is unknown.

Shortly after the incident, a notice was posted in workplaces across the country banning long hair for men. Staff at Kim Il-sung University were witnessed carrying out particularly stringent checks.

So there you have it. Not only is Kim Jong-il a dictator who hates women’s soccer. He’s also one of those people that leaves matches early.
