LA Galaxy might Loan Out David Beckham if it makes him a Better Player
By: Bob | May 30th, 2007
Los Angeles Galaxy president Alexi Lalas has always been good for a laugh and this past week has been no exception. First he suggested that he could prevent David Beckham from appearing in matches for England that he deems non-competitive and now he has opened the door to the possibility that Becks could be loaned to a European club once the MLS season comes to an end.
Said the one with the ginger hair about the one with the blonde brown shaved hair:
“We always consider possibilities that will make the player better as a soccer player and therefore make him a much more valuable asset because of that experience of going to play with another team on loan, or if we felt it made proper business sense and it is usually a combination of the two,” Lalas said on Sky Sports News.
It is hard to argue that Beckham couldn’t use a little more experience or exposure. Those 265 appearances for Manchester Untied, 114 appearances for Real Madrid, and 94 caps for England undoubtedly have left him ill prepared for the grueling slate of exhibitions the Galaxy will play while he is in uniform. It might be good for him to play during the winter months. His name might even appear in a paper or two.
