Lessons from the Premiership 10.21.07
By: Daryl | October 21st, 2007
All kinds of fun in the Premiership this weekend. The Merseyside Derby couldn’t have been more controversial if it tried, with David Moyes so angry he’s got himself in trouble. Rafa subbed off Stevie G and got away with it, Steve Coppell admitted he overthought things during the international break, Roy Keane admitted he needs some non-English speakers in red and white, Zat Knight was back to being shite, Didier Droga was back to being brilliant and Glen Johnson scored a Premiership goal(!)
The Merseyside Derby is a great opportunity to try out new roles
Phil Neville would make an awesome goalkeeper, Sami Hyppia would make a deadly striker, Steven Gerrard would be a great referee (especially when deciding whether to show yellow or red) while Jamie Carragher was auditioning for a spot in the England team for Rugby World Cup 2011.
When Rafa Benitez does it, it’s called squad rotation. When Fergie does, it it’s called resting players
The reason is that we all know that Ronaldo is first choice, even though he spent most of the Villa game on the bench. Also Fergie’s team won 4-1.
Tevez and Rooney CAN play together
Still don’t understand how or why it works, but apparently it does.
If your game as Bolton’s caretaker manager was away to Arsenal, you wouldn’t want the job full time either
Spare a thought for Archie Knox.
Tugay might look about 50, but he sure can hit a shot
He’s one of those underrated, almost unnoticed, Premiership players that are fairly consistently putting in good performances.
Chelsea are “broken”
Not of Didier Drogba keeps playing like that.
The relegation battle will be interesting this year
Derby are going down, but after that it’s any two from about eight teams all the way up to Reading. Including Spurs.
Manchester City can apparently put any young goalkeeper between the sticks and he’s guaranteed to make great saves
This week it was 20 year old Joe Hart, who’s even a real live Englishman.
What did you learn?
