Like any good fan he shaves, paints himself and abstains from sex

isaac-juma-onyango.jpgOur hero of the week hails from Kenya. The BBC informs us about Isaac Juma Onyango, a football fan who has taken his support well beyond the proverbially next level. With his body painted from head to toe and his hips swinging side to side, Kenya’s witchdoctor talisman is one of the best fans around.

And he is not afraid to sacrifice for his team.

“First of all, I have to buy my own paint, then pay the person to decorate me all over my body.

“That is not to mention the barber who shaves me before I go to the field.”

Onyango, 38, who hails from Musanda in the Western province started with AFC Leopards, his favourite club before moving his dance to the national team.

“After being painted I stop talking to anybody, abstain from sex and do nothing to compromise my concentration until after the match,” he added.

The abstaining from sex part must be really hard because you know how much the chicks dig a man painted like a traditional healer. Before we crown him our fan of the year, however, it is worth pointing out that he sold his soul by allowing his body to be used as an advertising board.

Nowadays he adds the name of a popular bus company to the painting on his body as a token to getting a free ride to Nairobi.

Big money advertising. Always ruining a good thing.

  • Bob
I have never studied the abstinence angle in terms of fan efficacy, but I did devote quite a bit of time looking at it from a team perspective.
  • That works, by the way, the abstaining from sex thing. I abstained for six minutes on a particular night in Istanbul and voilĂ ! Mission accomplished.
