Lilian Thuram in Heady Company

thuram.jpgZinedine Zidane might have the most famous head in France, but it will be Lilian Thuram’s cranium that will be on display for the whole world to see. A reproduction (the real one is still being used) of the French international and Barcelona defender’s head will be on display at an upcoming exhibit at the Museé de l’Homme in Paris. Thuram’s cranium will be in good company as it takes its place next to a skull dating back 30,000 years, and that of 17th-century philosopher René Descartes in an exhibit that depicts the changes to the shape of skulls through time. Said Thuram: “It teaches us what we are really. That we all come from the same branch of the same family beyond the colors of skin and borders.”

As for the man with the other famous French head, that little sighting at an NBA basketball game in New York has led to the predictable Zidane coming to the MLS rumors once again. Alas, Zizou is coming out of retirement, but only for a game of creaky kneed old timers’ futsal.
