Liverpool show off their new stadium
By: Bob | July 25th, 2007
What does it cost to build a landing facility for a spaceship? About $617.9 million. That is the estimated cost of Liverpool’s new stadium that will be located north of the city. The stadium looks beautiful and will have all the amenities you’ve come to expect from the newest generation of sports facilities, but the curmudgeon in me is sad to see the club leave Anfield.
Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry says the club will try to bring a piece of Anfield with it to the new digs.
“We’ve always recognized the central importance of the Kop,” Parry said in a statement. “It will have a significantly increased capacity of 18,000 seats in a single tier structure that will be the heartbeat of the new stadium.
“The rake of the stand will be steeper and the seats tighter together, with the acoustics of the roof designed to accentuate the atmosphere during games.”
The new stadium will open during the 2010-2011 season which means you still have time to visit Anfield before the wrecking ball brings it down. If you have never watched a game there it should be a mandatory stop on your global football grounds tour. In fact, you should try to go to all the old stadiums while you can. These new facilities are going to make it harder and harder for clubs to keep up unless they too build their own spaceship portals.

I dunno why but I just can’t like the design of that stadium, it just looks so strange.
Although, I prefer it more to derby, southampton etc etc…I’d hate to have a stadium that is exactly the same as everyone elses.Posted from
