Ian, I totally don’t blame you. You can’t root for Ivies. I can’t root for SEC schools, having been force-fed SEC-propaganda my whole childhood. No offense taken, of course. Honestly, I’m just glad college soccer gets a little notice, at least on the blog circuit.

And the comment really didn’t have anything to do with those vapid diatribes in Good Will Hunting. It was more about pointing out the disparity in quality of education between the two institutions and making a small joke about it. (In reality, who CAN compare to Princeton?)

ESPN barely shows goals from American professional soccer so I’d say an obscure college soccer game has about as much a chance of making SportsCenter as my Friday night poker game highlights.

Martha, by New Yorker you mean from New Jersey right? We in Jersey get enough crap what with the Giants and Jets who play in the state being called “New York Giants/Jets.” Why can’t the state claim at least one half field scorer for fame and recognition purposes? PS – Keep the “NY” Red Bull, no NJ inquires for posession as far as they’re concerned.

J – Don’t get me wrong, I have plenty of friends who went to Ivies – they don’t all suck. But will I ever root for one in any sport? Nope. Not unless they were playing against a team I disliked more … (imagining) … maybe Hearts v. Princeton in a glamour friendly at Tynecastle.
