Lowering Expectations To Darius Vassell-Like Levels

We’ve all seen fans get a little too crazy over a signing – some of us have even been guilty of the slightly overzealous behavior. But you get the feeling mediocre things don’t happen to the fans of Ankaragucu often, much less good things, as they’ve set the new standard for going overboard.

Darius Vassell has scored 17 goals in the last 4 years as a striker for Manchester City, which meant he was primed to move to a club that finished 13th in the Turkish SuperLig last year. It also makes him Ankaragucu’s biggest ever signing, or so the hero’s welcome they threw Darius would indicate.

Makes you wonder what they would’ve done had Ankaragucu signed a striker who’d scored a league goal in the last 12 months.
