I flipped to the game right as the first half of extra time ended, and saw it was 1-0 till the 89th where ribery tied it up, then i saw the two getafe goals and figured it was over.

Laughable red? OK. Watch Contra’s goal again. Notice how vanBommel and Demichelis go out of their way NOT to pull Contra down as he runs at goal. Any idea why neither of them (neither are angels) cynically pulled Contra down?

I agree – and how about the red card? It isn’t fair, surely, that Getafe had to play extra time with ten men. Surely it should be extra time for both legs, not the second? In which case, it’s not fair that Getafe had to lose on away goals or suffer only having 10 men – what if someone had got sent off in the first leg, should they not be able to play extra time as well?

Oh wait I forgot. Platini is way too busy making sure England don’t get any major competitions or European finals to ensure that the rules of his competitions are actually fair.

I agree with Scott, it’s not fair that extra time be played only in one leg…the game shud have gone straight to penalties….

I hate Bayern for making me cheer for them- my interest is in the bigger picture, where it’s great for the Bundesliga to have at least one team in the latter stages. Spain doesn’t need help in their UEFA ranking like Germany does. So I feel bad for not having wanted the underdog to win in this situation. I just wish Germany did better in Europe generally.

That was tough to watch. I feel bad for Getafe. They played great and really should have won easily.

I have to question using the away goals tiebreaker in an extra time game. How many would Getafe have gotten in Munich if they’d played an extra 30 minutes?
