Madrid stay top with another comeback, Barca crush Atletico

Real Madrid are still top of the Spain’s Primera Liga after pulling off yet another Roy of the Rovers comeback. Real started the day level on points with Barcelona but top of the table because of their superior head to head record. After going 2-0 up over Recreativo (Robinho heading in a David Beckham special and Ruud van Nistelrooy scoring a pen) they were pulled back to 2-2 with just five minutes left, and looked to have blown their slight advantage. Cue Roberto Carlos and the injury time winner above.

Barcelona weren’t messing about either. Many had expected them to struggle against Atletico Madrid, because historically they always have. But today Barca absolutely destroyed the rojiblanco 6-0, including the fourth and fifth from Ronaldinho and Leo Messi respectively (below) which they make look easy.

Sevilla are still in contention, being just two points behind Barca and Madrid, with Valencia just two points behind Sevilla and so still in with a realistic(ish) shout. With three games left to play in Spain, there’s no doubt La Liga has been more interesting than the Premiership this year.
