I agree that they need a healthy base of solid players but they have signed this type of player already (Bellamy, De Jon, Bridge). I don't see that the 2 approaches have to be mutually exclusive and a big name or 2 is hardly going to hurt is it? This is more media nonsense. As for the Kaka bid I see nothing wrong with trying to bring one of the worlds best players to your club if you can afford it. That they got so close is impressive. Almost as impressive as Berlusconi has been with the media. I personally don't see what's so embarrassing about failing to get one of the worlds best players to your club. I also don't see why we got all these 100 million is outrageous and the death of football stories when Real offered a similar amount to Man Utd for Ronaldo just 6 months ago and we got nothing like that. People saying during these financially difficult times that it's out of order need to learn some basic economics too. Hundreds of millions coming from someone's personal wealth in Abu Dhabi into the European economy is bad how? It's all very well saying run before you can walk... they are bringing in solid players like de Jong and Bridge but it's not exactly weaken the team if they do manage to bring in some superstars too is it?
