Mario Gomez Adds Injury to Injury

By: Bob | March 15th, 2007

I’m a big fan of Stuttgart’s young gun Mario Gomez, the leading goal scorer in the Bundesliga. I was bummed to see that he injured his knee against Wolfsburg on Saturday. A knee injury to a young player is never a good thing and to add injury to injury Gomez now has a broken hand which he sustained while punching the medic’s medicine box while being treated on the field for his leg injury. Those medics are always causing trouble. Just look what they did in the video below.

By the way, I might have posted this sometime before but I still chuckle when I read the bizarre football injuries and some of the crazy ways that keepers have injured themselves throughout the years.

There’s always footage of them stretcher fellas. Never seem to get a hang of it, do they?

Such a shame. Mario is an excellent young player, and looked ready to partner with Podolski against the Czech Republic next weekend. I certainly would’ve put him ahead of Kuranyi. I hope he gets better soon, and also learns that he’ll have more chances.
