Materazzi Writes the Final Chapter on Zidane Affair. Well, probably not

By: Bob | October 9th, 2006

materazzicone.jpgIt was three months ago today that Zinedine Zidane head butted Marco Materazzi in the final of the World Cup. It seems like just yesterday, doesn’t it? Perhaps the reason why is because the incident – one that really did not directly decide the outcome of the game, but that is a minor detail – just continues to live on as a parody of itself.

The latest chapter in this never ending saga comes from Marco Materazzi, who has penned a book of jokes entitled, What I really said to Zidane. Materazzi has put together 249 phrases that he apparently thinks are clever and packaged them into a 100-page book that he wants you to buy.

“As you will see, dear reader, I found it funny to explore the absurdity of the whole affair,” Materazzi writes as part of his column in an Italian daily newspaper.

An example of this exploration of absurdity? Try this one of for size:

“Zinedine, what are you up to? You haven’t lost yet … and you’ve already shaved your head!”

The book is not available on Amazon yet so you are going to have to wait just a bit longer before you read it cover to cover. As for Zidane, he hasn’t penned a book yet, but I’d like to suggest a working title, The 100 Best Ways to Skin Marco Materazzi Alive.

Hmm, portrait of two men: one player milks a violent incident for all its worth for his own publicity, profiting from a nike ad, trying to extend his 15 minutes of fame with TV commercials and complaints to the press about his victimhood just to keep himself in front of the headlines for as long as possible after the world’s best player smacks him down good in front of the whole world

The other moves on, saying nothing more to the press, doing charity appearances and not trying to profit from the incident

Class and dignity, words that Marco knows nothing about

And of course hypocrite john totally approves of classless exploitation for personal gain of an act of violence

Oi, mates, Marco and Zidane are both THUGS. End.
I do find this to be rather funny, not as funny as Marco’s OG though. hahaha. I mean, I’m a devout Italia fan, but that was awesome = ]

You idiot, Materazzi is giving all the proceeds to charity! So he wants a bit of fame? It’s his time to shine, he’s young and still playing for the national team, Zidane’s old and can’t take a few words of abuse without getting violent. What a cretin he is.
