Michael Owen is Back

After a seemingly endless spell on the sidelines and a couple of false starts, Owen scored the winner in Newcastle’s 1-0 win over Wigan last weekend, then scored this absolute beauty today in England’s 3-0 win over Israel. It’s possible that we’d all forgotten exactly how good Owen was and written him off as nothing more than a poacher who used to have a lot of pace. But the way he took this on the turn and half-volley screams class. Also check out the slo-mo replay from behind the goal, very stylish.

As an argentine football fan, I know who Michael Owen is…
But his prescence, both at league and NT level, is good for football.
A great player is a pleasure to watch, no matter what his jersey looks like.
