Miroslav Klose has learned he wants to play for Bayern Munich
By: Bob | June 7th, 2007
Remember a few weeks back when Miroslav Klose was forced to apologize because he was caught talking with Bayern Munich while his current club Werder Bremen were in a title race? At the time Klose claimed it was little more than a 20-minute informational meeting. Apparently the information he learned was enough to convince him that he is ready to play for Bayern.
Following Germany’s 2-1 win against Slovakia yesterday, the Werder Bremen forward and Al Bundy lookalike made his intentions clear.
‘The fact is I have decided to play for FC Bayern in 2008,’ he said.
‘I would prefer for it to happen as quickly as possible and to have everything clear, but if I have to stay one more year in Bremen, then I will still give everything to Werder.
‘I would be delighted if I were able to play for Bayern this year.’
That puts Bremen in a rather unfashionable position, don’t you think? They can let him walk away to a Bayern club that is clearly intent on regaining its Bundesliga glory or they can hold onto a lame duck forward who will still give everything to the team even though you know he won’t. Or they could try to extract Lukas Podolski, which isn’t going to happen.
I happen to like Klose as a player but the way he has represented himself in his flirtations with Bayern have been less than admirable. Speaking of shady doings, Chelsea are upset about Real Madrid trying to pry away Arjen Robben.

Those contracts being shelled out in Bavaria must be absolutely ridiculous. Klose was intent on leaving Bremen in search of a “challenge abroad,” Toni was in search of “Champions League football” and Ribery “wouldn’t play in the Bundesliga” and wanted to play in Spain. Apparently all those are code words for beaucoup bucks. This is likely the greatest group of talent the UEFA Cup will ever see.
