In response to Mark, i wouldn’t get too excited about beating any team in a pre-season game. They are virtually meaningless. They only thing they achieve is building up match fitness ready for the new season.

Bluemeanies: None of our defenders have wowed you? In 7 MLS home games this year, we have allowed 2 goals, neither of which was from the run of play, and one of which was a joke of a freekick. Marvell Wynne is the best rightback in the league. If you have watched any TFC this year you would not dispute putting him in the team. Edu would actually be the one TFC player I hope is not selected for the allstar game. Read my post later today.

It only counts for 25% of the vote total sam, so obviously not many players/managers/media types were mega voting for Toronto players. I’m not sure who exactly from Toronto I’d put on their. Sutton over Reis would be a joke, none of their defenders have been wow, defensive midfielders have to compete with all midfielders and Edu isn’t as good as Joseph, Guevara fails at least the managers section miseerably on past behavior and none of the strikers stands out (I haven’t watched much TFC but do you even have a consistent front line?).

That being said typically the coach picks 5 more and than garber picks 2 more and at least one of those will be pandering to the home town crowd. And than all players who drop out due to injury (Angel) or arrest will give Nichol another spot to fill.

I haven’t watched too many Crew games this year, but I did catch the one last weekend. Now, I like Frankie HeyDude, I like watching him play and he’s a good personality to have on a squad. I am a HeyDude fan. But: during last weekend’s game with the Fire, Frankie was PURE COMEDY on defense.

Like I said I have seen less than 2 Crew games this season, but if that was any indication, the MLS all-star game is just like any others: a popularity contest surrounding a fun event that includes a meaningless game.

That said, it’d be fun to attend. Please pardon my rambling.
