So by bluemeanies logic, everyone outside of LA and NY are scrooges and uses the non-DP exemptions (Donovan, EJ and Fish) as evidence. Better try that one again buddy 'cuz I'm not buying any of that arguement.

Ack, you're right about the 28 vs. 18. Sad thing is, I knew this, but it slipped my mind as I was writing. Going in to fix it now.

Actually, reading the article it seems like what the board of governors meeting came down to is the traditional scrooges (Kraft, the Hunts) cutting a deal with the traditional splurgers (AEG) to have a low salary cap increase w/another year exemption for Donovan (and EJ which probably got them On Goal from KC who might not want to spend anyway til arrowhead is fixed or their stadium built). Kroenke is probably a scrooge bringing it to 7 votes scrooge (Colorado). So that leaves them needing one of Chang & MacFarlane (DC), the new Chicago group, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (Toronto), Checketts (RSL) or Wolff (San Jose assuming they are on the board now) to side with the scrooges and shoot NYRB & Vergara down.

They have to spread it among 18 (senior) players not 28 (senior & developmental). The other 10 are almost all on the low ones though. Doesn't change the arguement much.
