Good point, Chris. Got any other totally spontaneous rants about statements made by goggle-wearing MLS players? I'd love to hear them.

As a first time watcher of the Revs since the inaugural season of MLS, even though I'm from Boston, I decided to wiki the roster and find out who plays for them. From Jeff Larentowicz:

"I know most people enjoy traveling through Europe and other fancy-type places but I'll take the elegance and grandeur of the North Shore over any of those unsophisticated and over-hyped destinations any day."

What I want to know is if this guy has ever actually been to the North Shore? If he had he'd know there would be no grandeur or elegance. Basically a bunch of high-haired women yelling out "Bruins ah wicked good." And Europe is unsophisticated? Funny, I didn't get that memo.

"Is Beckham playing?"

That is probably the funniest three-word sentence I've read in my life.

If I decide to go to the pub tonight, it'll be to catch the last half hour or so, since like most people I work until 5.

I think it would be helpful for the success of this primetime MLS experiment (which I have been enjoying very much), if ESPN would follow the example of their own Monday Night (NFL) Football broadcast, and show all the games no earlier than 9pm eastern time.

East-coasters will complain that it's too late, but west-coasters will actually be able to get out of work and watch the match. Wouldn't this make even more sense to an MLS or TV exec if, say, the LA Beckhams are playing a Thursday game in New York or DC...?

He'll be there in spirit, Tom. And he'll probably get a mention or two from the broadcast team.
