I quote (well…paraphrase) from the official TFC email of the week:

“We arent officially eliminated yet…we need to win our remaining 4 games while getting 20+ goal difference in them, and chicago must lose their 4 while getting 20-”. i assume any other combination of goals leading to a swing of 40 goals would work too. and after tonights win, its only 3 games and 19 goals! so theres still hope!

seriously though, without the injuries (dichio, sutton, o’brien…), i truly do believe we could be making a charge at the playoffs. but, as this is a northamerican league without relegation, THERES ALWAYS NEXT YEAR!

You are probably right, bluemeanies. I was just going off what the league press release says and frankly doing the math would make my head hurt: “Last weekend, after their 4-1 loss to D.C. United, Toronto FC moved to the brink of being officially eliminated from playoff consideration for this season.”

Actually I believe that ‘all but eliminated’ is incorrect. I believe they are truly ‘mathematically eliminated, no theres no way it can happen even if the world went entirely nuts’. Salt Lake to.
